While several models of employment exist within family day care, in most cases you will enjoy the flexibility of running your own business with the support and guidance of our government approved service. Based on the demand in Mount Isa and the policies of our service, you will often determine your hours of work and your remuneration.

You will also develop tailored educational programs for your children based on their individual developmental needs, interests and experiences. 

 

Qualifications and professional requirements

  • Hold or be actively working towards at least a Certificate III level education and care qualification.

  • Current first aid and CPR certificates and training in the emergency management of asthma and anaphylaxis.

  • Appropriate clearances for working with children.

  • New educators must provide a national police check (must be no more than 6 months old)

Creating your educational environment

  • As a Mount Isa Family Day Care educator it would be expected that you would provide a safe, stimulating and educational learning environment.

  • Mount Isa Family Day Care will do an assessment of your residence and advise of any changes that may be required.

  • If you live in a rental property you will need to advise your landlord of your intent to operate a family day care service.

 

Ongoing support and professional development

You will have regular ongoing contact with Mount Isa Family Day Care including home visits, training, meetings and workshops to support you in maintaining currency of skills and knowledge and to deliver quality education and care to the children in your service.

Mount Isa Family Day Care facilitates two play groups each week for our educators to meet and discuss the development of their children. We also offer toys and equipment for our educators to loan to help with their children’s education and development.
